Have you ever been to a place that wowed your senses, totally transported you and enveloped you in a sense of calm like you've never felt before? I have, and the place that did that for me was Sussex. As you ascend it's driveway your expectations are heightened...and then you see it for the first time. An 18th century Jamaica Georgian home framed by a gigantic guango tree introduces herself. Her periwinkle blue colour beckons you to come inside. Her history is as dramatic and extraordinary as the views of the Caribbean Sea seen from the balcony. Sussex was previously owned by Lord Brownlow, cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and close advisor to the Duke of Windsor. The property grounds have graced the silver screen in Sir Anthony Hopkin's Hollywood Blockbuster 'Instinct' and most incredibly, the property was the first to have a telephone line installed in Jamaica. Sussex is charming, elegant, lush, beautiful, dramatic, unpretentious and breathtaking. A perfect Jamaican dream.
